Kid-friendly Halloween Hang-outs and Activities in Idaho

This year’s Halloween festivities might look a bit different from what we’re used to, especially with the COVID-19 epidemic still raging on. While trick-or-treating might not be in the cards this year, there’s still plenty of great kid-friendly Hallween hang-outs and activities for your kids to enjoy! Please note that at the time of publication of this blog, these events are still scheduled, however, that may change due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Haunted Mansions of Albion

If your kids are up for it, there’s no better time to have some spooky-themed fun than at the Haunted Mansions of Albion! As the largest indoor/outdoor haunted production in the Northwest, you’ll not only get some history under your belt, but the whole family will love this terrifying and entertaining event. With timed tickets, a smaller number of actors, and masks required, you and your family can walk your way through multiple 100+ year old buildings that once made up the Albion State Normal School. With tons of different entertaining pastimes like fire throwers, dancers, fortune tellers, and snacks to munch on, this isn’t an event to miss!

Scarecrow Stroll – Idaho Botanical Gardens

For those who aren’t the biggest fans of all things spooky and scary, take a walk through the Botanical Gardens all throughout the month of October. Scarecrows can be found throughout the Botanical Gardens, and you can even vote for your favorite! Members and guests of all ages will love this event, as all the scarecrows are created and entered by community members and organizations. Come connect with nature, and have fun doing it at the Scarecrow Stroll!

Zoo Boo – Zoo Idaho

There’s nothing like getting to put on your Halloween costumes and going trick-or-treating, but imagine doing this at the zoo! Get the kids dressed up, and come to the zoo for the candy, costume contests, games, arts and crafts, and much more. This kid-friendly event is an annual Zoo Boo, so don’t forget about it in the coming years as well!

Downtown Days Great Pumpkin Festival

Hosted in Old Town Pocatello, the Great Pumpkin Festival and Farmers Market Fall Festival is planning to return to Historic Downtown Pocatello Saturday, October 3. From 9am to 2pm, get the whole family ready and come on out to enjoy everything great about the fall season! With seasonal decor, tons of pumpkins (of course), harvest produce, and a multitude of vendors, your family won’t soon forget the great time they had while at the Great Pumpkin Festival.

Halloween at Home

For those who are immune compromised, or who fall into the at-risk category, Halloween doesn’t have to be cancelled! Decorate the house and yard, make a scarecrow out of old clothes, or go all out with the fake spider webs. Get your costumes all picked out, and have an at-home costume contest. You can play classic Halloween movies, eat your favorite Halloween treats, and munch on candy all in the comfort of your own home!
